About Our Opportunity
The position of Marketing Coordinator will be a full-time addition to the Fundy Geological Museum that will enhance the Museum's ability to reach a wider audience for geoscience and cultural education as well as boost the Museum's capacity to continue providing novel and exciting experiences to visitors and local community members alike. This new position will provide a recent graduate the opportunity to help develop and implement a marketing strategy for our non-profit museum as well as gain valuable experiences in fundraising and program development. This position is expected to enhance the Museum's and Nova Scotia's visibility on the global stage as a premier institution of learning and public engagement. This is a full-time, hourly, permanent position that comes with a benefits package including vacation and sick leave. The typical work week will be Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm with the occasional change in schedule as needed. Remuneration will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at the annual salary of $30,000.00 with applicable deductions.
Qualified candidates will have successfully completed a post-secondary program from a recognized college or university between April 2018–May 2019 and be a qualified candidate through the Graduate to Opportunity program. The successful candidate will have a degree focused on business communication, marketing, advertising, commerce, design, or a related field. They will have the capacity to take initiative and work well independently as well as with a small group of experienced staff members. They will be a professional person with stellar work ethics and have the ability to get along well with people of various personalities and backgrounds. The successful candidate must pass satisfactory criminal record and child abuse registry documentation.
The Fundy Geo Museum is responsible for the collecting and recording of paleontological and geological specimens that have significance to Nova Scotia as well as promoting Nova Scotia's natural landscape. This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Fundy Geo Museum, a part of the Nova Scotia Museum.
Parrsboro, Nova Scotia is a beautiful bayside town with a lively summer trade in tourism of which the Fundy Geo Museum is a major participant. Parrsboro has a permanent population of approximately 1200 people year-round with a marked increase in the population during the tourism season due to the opening of numerous restaurants, B&Bs and cottages, outdoor adventure opportunities, a thriving residential artist program, and the Ships Company Theatre.
